
The Hyundai Metaplant is home to the award-winning, all electric IONIQ 5 crossover SUV.
HMGMA produces all IONIQ 5 models, with the exception of the N model, for the U.S. and Canadian markets.
The Metaplant began production of the IONIQ 5 in October 2024 when a white, 2025 SEL model rolled off the assembly line. A private celebration was held for employees who signed the car.
It is housed at the Hyundai Mobility Training Center of Georgia located on the megasite.
In March 2025, the all-electric 2026 IONIQ 9 became Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America’s second production vehicle.
The three-row SUV is often praised for its technology, design, comfort, performance and safety. In October 2025, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) awarded the 2026 IONIQ 9 with its highly coveted TOP SAFETY PICK+ prize.


In June 2026, Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA) reached three significant milestones with the launch of its first Kia model, its first hybrid electric vehicle (HEV), and the addition of a third vehicle to its production lineup.
The Kia Sportage Hybrid now joins the award-winning Hyundai IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 9, showcasing Hyundai Motor Group’s ability to build multiple brands and powertrain technologies on a single production line.
Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America produces the IONIQ 5, IONIQ 9 and Kia Sportage Hybrid models for the United States and Canadian markets.
HMGMA has the ability to produce up to 10 different vehicles. As we ramp up to full production, we will announce new additions to our lineup.
