Chief Safety Officer/Director of Environmental Health & Safety
Mary Jo Press is Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America’s Chief Safety Officer and Director of Environmental Health & Safety.
Mary Jo joined HMGMA in August 2023 and has more than four decades of experience in the Environmental Health and Safety field. At HMGMA, Press works with affiliates including Hyundai Glovis, Mobis, Transys, Hyundai Steel, Hyundai Materials and the Joint Venture with SK and LG battery. She previously worked in management for Tesla for more than five years. Prior to that Mary Jo worked in environmental health and safety for a packaging and container manufacturer as well as a global ingredient manufacturer for human health and food safety and protection of the global food supply chain.
Press also was an adjunct faculty member at a community college in North Carolina for more than a decade. She holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from North Carolina State University and a Master of Science degree in Occupational Safety & Health from Columbia Southern University.
Mary Jo has received numerous awards including an Environmental Excellence Award from Mapistry and the 2017 Environmental Leader 50 Award.
